Avatar Example

I've added a "wee mee" to the bar to the left. This is an example of an avatar. Avatar creation can be done through many free websites and is one way to let your students express themselves by being who they want to be. If you are using blogging to "blog in characater" avatar creation can be the students way of illustrating their character. For example, if a student is blogging as Charlotte from Charlotte's web, they may create an avatar to reflect their image of her and attach it to their posts or to the sidebar as a page element as is illustrated here. Another idea for avatar incorporation into blogs or web pages is to create an avatar of yourself to reflect how to dress for the weather of the day. If you've ever seen bus stop Buddy on Fox's morning news show, you know what I mean. This might be a hook to get parents and students to visit your site. This avatar was created through WeeWorld. Another more mature looking avatar creator is found here at Tek Tek Dream Avatar Creator. After I created my wee mee, I exported the item and copied the html. There is a step by step process through which you can do this. You can paste this html into blogger as a page element, or insert it in html in the context of a post. Blog Host

As you can see, my blogging host of choice is blogger. I've included a list of links to the right of other blogging hosts that you might wish to utilize yourself or with your students. I'll also add some page elements to this blog as an example of ways in which you or your students might wish to enhance their blog.

Just Getting Started

This blog will be used to post thoughts of educators on blogging in the classroom and its implications for future classroom teaching. We will be reading articles and blog posts from other educators and devising how we can use blogging and then moving forward, we will explore the literal "how" of blogging.
